We are striving to make this an enjoyable event that people can participate in, watch or support. We hope that it will promote sports, encourage better health, achieve an economic ripple effect and further promote the city itself.
This will be a prominent event nationwide that helps people experience their greatest dreams and deeply impresses them, and its scale, time limit and other such factors make it possible for numerous Yokohama citizens and many others from different generations to participate.
Large-scale sports promotion committees from around the country, numerous volunteers and other will take part in the event, and local citizens and companies will come together as one to energize the entire city of Yokohama for this huge event.
The race courses will pass through the Minato Mirai 21 district and many other attractive parts of Yokohama City as part of sports tourism efforts to vitalize local communities, the economy and more.
Yokohama strives to bring together artists and creators as part of efforts toward becoming a cultural and artistic creative city. These endeavors are aimed at further vitalization of the city through community development using creativity.
Creation of the Marathon’s logo and promotional copy was supervised by the Yokohama Creativecity Center (Yokohama Arts Foundation), the these works became the first to be produced using the Yokohama designer recommendation system implemented in collaboration with the Kanagawa-region Japan Graphic Designers Association Inc. and Kanagawa Design Forum. Using this system, three recommended designers competed to produce the final logo and promotional copy.
